"An inspiring, Effective, Proactive Public Servant" - Sharon Lake

I am proud to support Laura Bergus for re-election to the Iowa City City Council. During her first term in office, Laura has brought an intelligent, passionate, and urgent voice to issues that are crucial for Iowa City’s long-term health, including social and racial justice; regional transportation; and public safety.

Most importantly, she has done the work. Laura drafted the 16-point resolution supporting the Black Lives Movement, passed unanimously by council; and together with her colleague, Janice Weiner, she drafted the resolution creating the Truth & Reconciliation Commission, passed on 6-1 vote. She is working with area leaders to gain support for activating the CRANDIC corridor for passengers, and has pushed for, and supported, efforts to find the most appropriate response to safety issues in our community.

Laura is an inspiring, effective, proactive public servant. She has earned another term on council. Iowa City needs her energy, commitment, and leadership. I hope you will join me in voting for Laura Bergus for re-election to the Iowa City City Council in the primary on October 10, and in the general election on November 7.
